Kurt von der Chevallerie

Kurt Wilhelm Gustav Erdmann von der Chevallerie (23 December 1891 – missing as of 18 April 1945) was a highly decorated General der Infanterie in the Wehrmacht during the Second World War who commanded the German 1st Army. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves, which, especially its higher grade Oak Leaves, was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Kurt von der Chevallerie retired from the Army on 31 January 1945 and disappeared on 18 April 1945 near Kolberg.
On 18 December 1918 he married Dorothea Zander (born May 3, 1895 in Rybnik, Province of Silesia; † 14 October 1957 in Göttingen, West Germany), the daughter of the Privy Council Medical MD Rudolf Zander and Charlotte Eiss. Married in Berlin, the couple had a son, Hans-Rudolf (Lieutenant, killed in 1940) and three daughters.
